Welcome to our traditional Japanese inn, Shousenkaku Kagetu, We are located in Echigo-Yuzawa, Niigata prefecture, the country side of Japan. (Please see the Access or the Hotel Information page for further information and directions)
If you would like to experience Japan’s finest in Ryoukans (traditional Japanese inns) come visit us and enjoy: Onsens or hot spring spas, Yukatas, traditional Japanese clothing or enjoy traditional Japanese cuisine with our warm hospitality served with our eloquent powdered green tea, called Macha.

Guidance of - Guest rooms / Onsen / Cuisine / Facilities / Access Information
We have 28 guest rooms, 23 standard “tatami” or traditional Japanese rooms and 5 different style suite rooms, all with hot spring baths. These rooms are cozy and comfortable in the often cold winter nights of Yuzawa. Enjoy the view of the gorgeous mountains of Yuzawa while relaxing with us from one of these rooms. During dinner time, we will be preparing your bedding or futon (traditional Japanese style bed).
We have 5 different style suite rooms, called Tachii Ne Fuhi Sara-Machituki. These rooms also have hot spring inside the rooms. They are also well mixed with Japanese and western decor.
One of the most important facilities of a ruokan is the hot spring bath or onsen. We have two different styles of onsen: wood style or rock garden style. When you stay even one night, you can try both. Also each onsen has an outdoor bath. We will be happy to teach bath etiquette for first time bathers.
Also we have a private hot spring bath.
We have some of the highest quality of hot spring water some of which is suitable even for a little baby. After staying with us, your skin will feel beautiful and smooth.
Our ryoukan’s cuisine features both traditional Japanese course meals (Kaiseki-ryori) and modern Japanese (Wa-dining or modern full course dining). You can also enjoy seasonal foods, well known in this area.
We have two kind of breakfast, Japanese or Western style.
If you have anything that you cannot eat please let us know when you book. We will be happy to adjust our menu to your tastes and needs.

The Nearest train station to our establishment is The Echigo-Yuzawa station. It is a mere 5-minute-walk from there.
It takes just one and a half hour, or less, from Tokyo station by bullet train. It takes about 2 hours from the Tokyo Nerima Interchange by car.
The town of Yuzawa is at the entrance of Niigata prefecture and is famous for skiing, hot spring spas (Onsen) mountain hiking, rice, sake and much more. Yuzawa is also famous for the Nobel Prize winning novel called ‘snow country’ (Yukiguni) written by Yasunari Kawabata.
